Two examples turn a range into a decision
Two adults in Moscow: With final flights at SAR 4,200 and a confirmed room at SAR 360 for seven nights, SAR 6,720 is committed before meals, transport, activities, visas and insurance. Add SAR 2,200–3,400 for the remaining expenses and a separate reserve: around SAR 9,800–11,600 can make sense for this particular scenario. Reprice both the tickets and room before applying it to another month.
Family of four: Flights of SAR 8,800 and family accommodation of SAR 4,200 create a SAR 13,000 starting point. Add meals for the children's ages, airport transfers, excluded seats or bags, two or three attraction visits, each person's visa and insurance, and a 10–15% reserve. The total can reach SAR 18,500–23,500 even when the first per-person fare looked inexpensive.

The original Etihad snapshot showed return economy flights from Riyadh to Moscow at SAR 1,861–3,229 per person for selected August and September 2026 dates. It is historical context, not an available fare. It never guaranteed two or four seats at the same amount.

Getting around Moscow
The original budget used RUB 75 for a Troika journey and RUB 800 for a three-day ticket. At the historical exchange reference these are about SAR 3.3 and SAR 35, before card issuance charges. These are historical references, not a confirmed current tariff. Check the current price before travel.
The calculator allows more than metro fares because it includes airport transfers and some taxis. A rouble conversion alone is insufficient if your intended payment method is not accepted.
Attractions
The Kremlin Museums ticket page lists standard adult entry at RUB 1,400 for the Armoury Chamber and RUB 1,100 for Cathedral Square: approximately SAR 61 and SAR 48 at the historical exchange reference. Recheck the official page for your visit date and buy from the official seller rather than an inflated reseller.
Balance paid visits with free walking and park days. The activities allowance does not cover every attraction.
Moscow + Saint Petersburg
Selecting two cities adds SAR 350–650 per person for intercity travel and station transfers. Replace it with the actual train or flight quote and departure time: an early or late service may add taxis or a poorly used hotel night.
For five nights, one city is often better value. With eight to ten nights, a split becomes more practical.
A budget needs a workable payment plan
Check payment arrangements before a non-refundable booking
Visa's and Mastercard's published suspension notices state that their cards issued outside Russia do not work inside Russia, including Russian retailers or ATMs as applicable. Do not assume a Saudi-issued international card will be accepted. Confirm current conditions directly with your bank and each supplier.
The Russian e-visa portal describes a separate online fee-payment process using cards issued by banks outside Russia. A successful visa payment does not establish that the same card works at a Russian hotel or shop.

The official e-visa country list includes Saudi Arabia. The portal describes four-calendar-day processing, excluding submission day; corrections can restart that period.
