Abu Dhabi trip cost from Saudi Arabia for couples and families
Plan around SAR 5,300–9,200 for two over 4 days/3 nights, or SAR 10,500–17,500 for a family of 2+2 over 5 days/4 nights. Both ranges cover economy flights, a hotel, food, transport and selected activities, before shopping.

The practical answer
Three budget levels, not one fixed price
Couple: SAR 4,000–6,000
Flexible dates, a central budget hotel, local food, buses and taxis when needed, and one paid attraction. This may be achievable only with suitable flights and dates outside holidays or major events.
Couple: SAR 5,300–9,200
Direct economy flights, a 4-star hotel or a well-priced 5-star room, grouped taxi journeys, the Louvre and a Yas day, plus a 10% reserve. This is the guide's main planning range.
Couple: SAR 10,000–18,000+
A resort or view room, hotel restaurants, private transfers, several theme parks or premium experiences. Suites, shopping and events can take the budget well beyond this range.
A family is not simply the couple's cost multiplied by two. Room type, children's ages and heights at Yas parks, and shared meals change the calculation. Confirm room occupancy before comparing hotels.
Behind the figures
Assumptions behind the balanced range
- Departure from Riyadh.
- 4 days and 3 nights.
- Return economy flights.
- One double room.
- Balanced rather than luxury meals.
- Taxis and free/public buses.
- Louvre + one Yas park.
- An 8–12% reserve.
- Two children under 12 for planning.
- 5 days and 4 nights.
- A family room or two rooms, subject to policy.
- One major theme-park day.
- Higher daily transport than a couple.
- No shopping or minibar.
- No Dubai or Al Ain excursion.
- Baggage based on the actual fare.
The dirham is pegged to the US dollar at AED 3.6725 per dollar; the Saudi riyal is also dollar-pegged. This model uses the planning approximation AED 1 = SAR 1.02. Your card statement may include a different conversion or additional fees.
Ranges are rounded to roughly SAR 50–100. More precision would imply certainty the examples do not provide.

Rounded totals can differ slightly from adding the endpoints, as a real combination falls within the ranges. Do not combine every lowest price if their conditions cannot coexist on the same dates.

Saudi Arabia flights: treat “from” prices carefully
Riyadh
From SAR 829Return economy fares for selected October/November 2026 dates on Etihad's pages at the example date. August dates showed around SAR 1,007–1,366.
Jeddah
From SAR 555Selected September dates appeared from SAR 555, while August fares varied substantially, with some much higher. Flexibility matters more than a generic average.
Dammam
From SAR 990Later months appeared from SAR 990, with August dates around SAR 1,052–1,217 in the dated official examples.
The room matters more than stars
What do Abu Dhabi hotels cost?
Central budget hotel
AED 150–300/nightExperience Abu Dhabi publishes this as an approximate budget-hotel range. Check reviews, distances, air conditioning and parking; do not assume breakfast or taxes are included.
5-star hotel
Published average: AED 590The published double-room average is before taxes and fees mentioned in the official FAQ. Actual rates may be lower in summer or higher in winter and around events.
Hotel apartment
Published average: AED 370This may suit a family or longer stay, but check beds, unit size, kitchen and cleaning. “Sleeps four” does not automatically mean two suitable beds.
Useful for sights and restaurants, reducing cultural-day distances but potentially adding a long taxi ride to Yas.
Reduces transport on park days. Do not pay a location premium if your trip mainly focuses on the city and museums.
Beach, culture and often higher-category resorts. Compare the room's total with breakfast and resort fees.
For families, request final prices for two options: one family room and two connecting rooms, including children's ages and beds. The difference may change your hotel choice.
Daily spending
Food, transport and activities in numbers
Food
The tourism authority's budget examples list breakfast at AED 20–30, lunch at 30–40 and dinner at 20–50: roughly AED 70–120 per person before coffee and extras. Typical hotel restaurant meals can be AED 100–200 per person, with possible service or tourism fees.
- Budget: SAR 80–130/adult/day.
- Balanced: SAR 140–250/adult/day.
- Child: start at SAR 60–120 depending on age.
Transport
Silver taxis start at AED 5 by day, plus AED 1.82/km and 0.50 for waiting, with a minimum of 12; airport taxis start at 20. Buses cost AED 2 plus 5 fils/km, and a free tourist bus serves selected destinations. These are dated planning examples.
- Couple: SAR 100–180/day.
- Family: SAR 150–250/day.
- Group each day's areas to reduce rides.
Activities
The dated examples list Louvre admission at AED 70 for adults and free under 18; Ferrari World online from AED 345; SeaWorld at 375 for adults and 320 for children depending on height; and a two-park ticket at 475 for use within 6 days.
- Budget: free sights + one attraction.
- Balanced: Louvre + one Yas park.
- Check heights before buying a child ticket.
A worthwhile day without many tickets
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, subject to official booking and visitor guidance, the Corniche, a public beach and markets or promenades can make a low-cost day. Free admission does not eliminate transport, meals or time; include these in the calculator.
Dates change the mix
Seasons and events: when do prices rise?
Milder weather and stronger demand
Outdoor plans become easier. Rooms may cost more around winter, holidays and events. Book a suitable hotel early and compare cancellation terms; not every winter date is equally busy.
Potentially cheaper hotels, more indoor plans
Better accommodation deals may appear, but heat increases the value of nearby locations, air-conditioned transport and indoor activities. A cheaper hotel is not a saving if it adds many taxis or unsuitable children's activities.
One night can move the whole range
A race, conference or concert can increase demand and reduce availability in a particular area. Check the official Abu Dhabi calendar before fixing nights; compare a different arrival date, not only another hotel.
Save without spoiling the trip
Eight practical ways to save
- Move the travel day.Do not search only for the cheapest month; two days' difference may outweigh an entire hotel saving.
- Compare final airfares.Include baggage, seats and changes, rather than just the advertised “from” card.
- Stay for your itinerary.A Yas hotel can genuinely be cheaper with two days there, not when the whole trip is in the city.
- Choose one Yas park.Or compare a multi-park ticket when you will actually use it within its validity.
- Group areas.Saadiyat on one day and Yas on another; scattered plans multiply taxis and time.
- Mix free and paid sights. The mosque and Corniche with one main activity often offer better value.
- Book breakfast when useful.Particularly for families, but do not overpay for meals you will miss while out.
- Keep 10% aside.Without a reserve, every exchange difference or extra meal becomes a surprise.
Before fixing the total
Often-forgotten costs
Within the price
- Hotel taxes and fees.
- Baggage in each direction.
- Airport transfers.
- Meals on arrival and departure days.
- Card fees or conversion differences.
Outside this model
- Shopping and gifts.
- Seasonal events and tickets.
- Room upgrades and minibar.
- Dubai or Al Ain transfers.
- A resident's visa, if required.
Family decisions
- Does the child pay for a full flight seat?
- Does the room permit the occupancy?
- Is an extra bed charged?
- Does the ticket depend on age or height?
- Is a stroller or car seat needed?
Common questions
Short answers with clear limits
How much does an Abu Dhabi trip for two cost?
A balanced 4-day, 3-night trip from Riyadh has a planning range of SAR 5,300–9,200, including economy flights, a mid-range hotel, food, transport and Louvre/Yas activities, before shopping. Dates, hotel level and baggage can change the total.
What does Abu Dhabi cost for a family of four?
For two adults and two children over 5 days and 4 nights, a balanced planning range is around SAR 10,500–17,500 before shopping. Room type, children's ages, the number of theme parks and departure city strongly affect the total.
Are these live offers?
No. These are planning examples dated 27 August 2026, based on official published prices and stated assumptions. The calculator runs locally and does not check inventory. Confirm the final supplier quote before payment.
When is Abu Dhabi cheapest?
Summer hotel deals may be cheaper outside events, but heat shifts plans towards indoor activities. Winter and major events may increase demand. Compare the same room, flights and cancellation terms on two dates rather than generalising an entire season.
What do flights from Saudi Arabia cost?
The dated Etihad examples showed return economy fares from SAR 829 from Riyadh, 555 from Jeddah and 990 from Dammam for selected dates. These were starting prices, change quickly and may exclude optional services; they are not current quotes.
What daily food budget should I allow?
Official tourism examples place budget local meals around AED 70–120 per person per day. Typical hotel restaurant meals may cost AED 100–200 per person before some fees. A balanced planning allowance is SAR 140–250 per adult/day.
Should I use taxis or rent a car?
Taxis suit a short trip with grouped areas. The dated official example starts at AED 5 by day, then 1.82 per kilometre, with a minimum fare of 12. A car may suit Al Ain or frequent journeys, but add rental, fuel, parking and insurance. Confirm current fares before travel.
How can I save on Yas Island tickets?
If visiting several parks, compare a multi-park ticket with individual days. The dated examples list Ferrari World from AED 345 and a two-park ticket at AED 475. Check current prices, validity, usage rules and height restrictions.
What is excluded from the estimate?
Shopping, minibar, upgrades, bank conversion fees, a resident's visa if required, Dubai or Al Ain transfers and special-event tickets are excluded. Add an 8–12% reserve after building your main costs.

Put the model into practice
Three situations that change the cost, not the destination
A couple's three-night weekend
Final flights cost SAR 950 per person, and a city hotel is SAR 520 per night including fees. Add adult meals at 180 per person/day, daily transport at 130, activities at 415 per person, other costs at 250 and a 10% reserve. The result is SAR 7,150.
A better decision: Keep the reserve. Compare a room SAR 100 cheaper per night or replace taxis with the free bus on one day. If the SAR 950 flight excludes baggage, replace it with the final fare.
A family of 2+2 during school holidays
Flights are SAR 1,150 per person and a family room is SAR 950 per night for four nights. Meals are 180 per adult and 100 per child/day, transport is 220/day, activities are 350/person, and other costs are 500, plus 10% reserve. The total is SAR 15,620.
A better decision: Compare two connecting rooms with a single family room, then compare the AED 475 two-park ticket with just one park day. If a child's height limits most rides, do not buy the same programme simply for easier calculations.
A cheaper hotel far from your plans
A hotel saves SAR 180/night, or 720 over four nights, but adds two long taxi rides on each sightseeing day and uses valuable family time. In this example there are four days with the extra journeys: SAR 170 × 4 = 680, leaving just SAR 40 before valuing your time. A fifth charged day would instead make the hotel SAR 130 more expensive overall.
A better decision: Compare the cost of an achievable day, not just the room. A Yas hotel works with two island days; a city hotel may be smarter for the mosque, Corniche and Saadiyat.
A five-minute final check
- Copy flight and hotel prices after taxes and services.
- Confirm ages, occupancy, baggage and cancellation terms.
- Add only activities you intend to buy, not an entire wish list.
- Include between-area transport and airport transfers.
- Keep the total, sources and quote validity date.
Pause before payment
- No written hotel confirmation for 2+2 occupancy.
- A child ticket without an age or height definition.
- A flight price that omits baggage information.
- A total without taxes or exclusions.
- A payment request before availability is confirmed.
