Bahrain or the UAE
Less time lost in transit, for families or a city break. In May, plan outdoor time in mornings or evenings.
EID TRIP SELECTOR
The published financial-sector holiday windows fall in March for Eid al-Fitr and May for Eid al-Adha. Weather, actual leave and airfare change the better destination, not only its popularity. Confirm the applicable calendar before booking.
Confirm leave with your employer and children’s school. These financial-sector leave windows are not a universal holiday calendar or confirmation of moon sighting.
Quick answer
Less time lost in transit, for families or a city break. In May, plan outdoor time in mornings or evenings.
Time for a city and a second area. March is cooler; May is often stronger for nature and walking.
A longer journey makes more sense when flights and transfers do not consume a large share of the holiday.
Saudi citizens and residents may hold passports with different entry rules; children may need separate documentation. Check every traveller.

Four-night comparison
Original August 2026 ranges are per person from Saudi Arabia sharing a double room: economy flights with checked baggage, room share, basic transport, moderate meals and limited activities. Shopping, insurance and special requirements are excluded. Replace assumptions with current prices.
| Destination | Planning range/person | Fitr / March | Adha / May | Useful duration | Saudi citizen entry |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bahrain | SAR 2,500–5,000 | A short, practical break | Warm; evening activities | 2–4 nights | GCC citizens visa-exempt; residents check separately |
| UAE | SAR 3,500–7,500 | Practical spring weather | Hotter | 3–5 nights | GCC citizens visa-exempt; residents check eligibility |
| Istanbul | SAR 4,500–8,500 | Cooler, with possible rain | Gentler spring walking | 4–6 nights | Exemption up to 90/180 days under Turkish guidance |
| Baku | SAR 4,000–7,500 | Cool and windy; published temporary exemption ends earlier | Spring cities and nature | 4–6 nights | Check eVisa; do not rely on exemption ending 15 February 2027 |
| Georgia | SAR 4,200–8,000 | Cold cities and winter mountains | Stronger nature season | 5–7 nights | Check every passport through Geoconsul before payment |
| Maldives | SAR 7,500–15,000 | Relatively settled beach stay | Possible rain and changing sea conditions | 5–7 nights | Visa on arrival with conditions and IMUGA |
Compare a current quotation: Eid demand affects flights and rooms. A single date or departure airport can reorder the choices. These ranges help shortlist, not establish an available purchase price.
Six decision cards
For two to four nights of restaurants, waterfront, shopping and a light schedule. Driving from the Eastern Province may be efficient, but count causeway waiting, insurance and vehicle permission rather than treating the road as free.
Fitr: a flexible city plan with outdoor activities. Adha: more heat; go out morning and evening and keep midday indoors.
A practical direct journey, one hotel and indoor/outdoor activities. Do not squeeze both emirates into three days; choose a base and add a day in the other only when journey time works.
March: more scope for walking, beach and desert. May: more heat; stay near activities and use evenings outside.
Four to six nights allow both shores, markets, sights and a cruise without adding Trabzon or Bursa merely for another city. During Eid, a hotel near reliable transport may matter more than a larger room far away.
March: layers, umbrella and an indoor alternative. May: more comfortable walking and gardens, with changeable weather still possible.
Baku alone suits four nights; adding Gabala or Sheki needs five or six to avoid daily long drives. The waterfront, Old City and museums provide activities not wholly dependent on weather.
March: expect cool wind and possible spring/Novruz atmosphere. May: the tourism board describes a useful period for sights and nature.
Five to seven nights allow Tbilisi with Kakheti or Borjomi. Combining Tbilisi, Batumi and Kazbegi in a short break increases road hours. Official tourism information emphasises differences between coast, city and mountain climates.
March: base in Tbilisi, allowing for cold and limited mountain routes. May: April to early June offers cultural and nature touring, with rain or wind possible.
Compare boat or domestic transfers, meals, child policy, room location, taxes and activities, not just the island name. Four nights may work with aligned flights and transfers; five to seven give a better buffer.
March: a useful beach and fixed-stay option. May: allow for rain and sea changes rather than putting the whole trip’s value into one inflexible marine activity.
Fitr ≠ Adha
Compare cooler Istanbul, Baku and Georgia with relatively milder UAE and Bahrain. In the Caucasus, keep an indoor day, layered clothes and mountain routes conditional on near-date forecasts. Maldives suits one transfer and a fixed stay.
May strengthens Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey for nature and walking. Dubai and Bahrain need indoor plans and carefully timed outdoor activities. Maldives may bring wetter conditions; choose sensible change terms and activities not entirely dependent on the sea.
A local planning calculator
Enter current prices you have seen for each item. This tool calculates an estimate without sending an enquiry to our team. Comparing matching baggage, meals and transfers avoids misleading totals.
A clear booking process
SAMA’s schedule applies to financial institutions. Check employer, school and nursery arrangements; allow a return buffer before important commitments after a long trip.
Record nationality, validity, residence and transit for each traveller. Do not apply a Saudi-citizen rule to a resident or companion holding another passport.
Include airport travel, waiting, connections and hotel transfer. A cheaper flight with a long stop can consume a night of a four-day break.
Compare the same baggage, room, meals, transport and taxes. An app airfare and a complete package are not equivalent totals.
Keep alternatives for rain, heat or mountain-road closures. The aim is resilience, not predicting a day’s weather months ahead.
Know flight, hotel and transfer fees, booking ownership and amendment channels. Flexibility matters near a changing holiday and high demand.
Check flights, bookings, entry, transit, weather, transport and documents 72–96 hours beforehand and share the itinerary with someone trusted.
Choose by scenario
Protect children’s time and reduce transfers. Compare a genuine family room, breakfast, airport transfer and location, then choose one city. Do not load paid activities before assessing the family’s pace.
Fitr favours flexible city options such as Istanbul or Baku; Georgia strengthens for Adha. Use at most two areas and keep a day without a long drive.
Compare two resorts with identical inclusions, not room price alone. Transfers, taxes and meals change totals; weather and activity terms matter more in May.
Count vehicle, insurance, waiting and hotel parking. Agree meeting point and driver responsibility; avoid a last-minute return before work because peak causeway timing varies.
Entry is not a permanent label
The visa-free destinations guide covers broader details. Start the Eid decision with these boundaries:
Check passport type, validity, purpose and stay. Turkey, UAE and Bahrain have published rules, but recheck before payment.
Passport nationality usually leads. Some countries offer a GCC-resident route with residence-validity or profession conditions; this is not automatically the citizen exemption.
Connections may create a separate condition and children may need consent or documentation. Check carrier and authorities for the complete route, not the final destination alone.
Mistakes that increase Eid costs
A small saving may put the whole trip at risk. Check every passport and transit first.
Hotels, transfers and luggage consume leave. Over five nights, use one base or two nearby areas.
Add baggage, taxes, transport, meals and child policy before declaring a winner.
Compare one day earlier/later when leave permits; it can change flight and room costs.
Georgia’s coast, cities and mountains are not one climate or one road.
These ranges are for planning, not an invoice or availability promise without current checks.

Before booking
For a short trip, Bahrain and the UAE provide nearby starting points. Istanbul and Baku suit a cooler city break. Georgia works better over five to seven nights with cold conditions possible at altitude; the Maldives suits a fixed beach stay and a higher budget.
The May planning window strengthens Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey for spring cities and nature. The UAE and Bahrain remain practical for short breaks with outdoor activities in mornings and evenings. The Maldives needs flexible rain and sea alternatives. Confirm your actual leave dates.
The original four-night planning models per person sharing a double room range from approximately SAR 2,500–5,000 for Bahrain to SAR 7,500–15,000 for the Maldives. Other choices are generally SAR 3,500–8,500. These are dated planning ranges, not current offers.
Start comparing once leave is confirmed, especially for direct flights and family rooms. Compare flexible or refundable conditions with restricted fares. Do not pay for non-refundable items before checking each passport, entry, transit and matching dates.
Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Saudi ordinary and official passport holders are visa-exempt for up to 90 days in a 180-day period. Check current passport validity, purpose and entry conditions before booking.
The published temporary exemption ends on 15 February 2027, before the March Eid planning window. Do not base an Eid booking on that temporary rule. Check updated requirements; Saudi Arabia appears among countries eligible for ASAN electronic visas.
No. Eligibility follows passport nationality, residence type and transit, not residence alone. The UAE, for example, distinguishes GCC citizens from residents. Check each traveller independently before a non-refundable purchase.
It can suit a family wanting one resort and limited transfers, provided airport transport, child policy, meals, water depth and activities fit. Maldives tourist visas are issued on arrival subject to requirements including accommodation, onward or return travel and the IMUGA declaration.
With three or four actual nights, a nearby journey protects time from transfers. A longer journey becomes more worthwhile over seven nights or when the stay itself is the purpose. Count door-to-door time, not flight time alone.
No. Prices are planning ranges, weather is seasonal context rather than a daily forecast, and entry rules may change. Recheck official requirements, the near-date forecast and a live quotation for each traveller before payment and departure.
From shortlist to a bookable trip
True Travel helps narrow destinations and compare matching inclusions. A request establishes neither price nor availability until a current quotation and each passport’s entry requirements are reviewed.
